August 17 and 18 - "Dear Old Cathedral, Here's to you! Here's to your Class of '62!" What a great weekend! Our 50th Class reunion began with a golf outing Friday at Saddlebrook (roughly 40 of us participated), and continued with a mixer at the present Cathedral HS campus on 56th Street. A Saturday afternoon Mass was said at St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, dedicated to the living and deceased members of our Class of '62. Afterwards we walked across the street to 1416 N. Meridian Street and entered the hallowed halls of our old Cathedral gymnasium . . many of my classmates, for the first time since graduation in May of 1962. The "old Cathedral High School" is now the Indianapolis Diocese Catholic Center, but still holds many fond memories! A reception and dinner provided by Sahm's catering was followed by an evening of stories, memories, and dancing to the music of our longtime DJ friend, Reb Porter. Br. Douglas Roach,CSC, Principal, was in attendance. . . didn't give any detentions, thank Heavens, and Brother Roy Smith, CSC, also graced us with words of reflection and inspiration. Dick Dullaghan and our cheerleaders, Bob Desautels, Antoinette, and Nancy led us in a spirited rendition of "Dear Old Cathedral"; Joe Dezelan, Reunion Chairman, was introduced as "2012 Cathedral Man of the Year"; and finally our classmates and their spouses danced the night away. Many friendships were renewed as we reminisced well into the night. On July 4, 2012 . . Orange Township, Delaware County, Ohio hosted its community with the 8th Annual Independence Day Celebration. A 5K Run was followed by a parade beginning at Little Bear Golf Course, traveling north on Old State Road through the various subdivisions of the community. The race, as Rosie stated, was "hotter than 'Blue Blazes' "! We did, however, have the support of many of our neighbors . . cheering us on. Rose Anne and I ran together for this race and competed with 249 runners in the 93 degree heat. . . still a great start to the Holiday activities!
June 23 . . . "Run with the Pack 5K" is one of our favorite races of the year! Proceeds benefit Pets without Partners rescue mission and there are always many friendly dogs available on site to adopt. Many of the 82 participants brought their 4 legged companions to run the Scioto Audubon Metro Park course with them. Rose Anne and I were the "Grandpa & Grandma" of the event, being the oldest participants. Both of us had good races, running separately, and having personal best times for the year! Saturday morning was beautiful with sun and 74 degree heat elevating to 80 by the end of the race. Don't worry, the sponsors provided plastic pools of water along the route and at the finish to refresh our friends! Maddie doesn't run with us, but looks forward to our return home with the best treat bags . . . all for her!

The hour & half program was well received in the outdoor setting by roughly 500 listeners. 44 men were on the risers for the chorus performance; 4 quartets added to the successful performance. The weather was pleasant; a great evening of song! (Ted is in middle of second row - just to the right of the pole . . partially hidden, but smiling!)
