January 12 . . . "Bulldogs win" . . . Thanks to Mike and Lea Ann, Mike and I attended the Butler - Dayton basketball game last Saturday and had a great time. It was a hard fought victory in which leading scorer Rotnei Clarke, went down on a driving shot into the goal standard. He will miss the next two games including the Butler vs Gonzaga match-up at Hinkle, January 19. The game is the ESPN showcase game with GAME DAY to be telecast 11:00-12:00 on ESPN from Hinkle Fieldhouse. Rose Anne, Ella, Lea Ann, and Caile enjoyed a little shopping while the guys attended the game.
"It's a small world" . . . While at the game conversing with a couple of Dayton guys sitting behind us, one asked "if I knew Danny Gallagher from Butler?" Dan Gallagher was a fraternity brother (Phi Kappa Theta) and was President of the house when I pledged. The Dayton gentlemen declared Danny was a "second father" to him and showed a picture of Dan and his family prior to his passing six years ago. It is indeed a small world.
"Bagels anyone?" . . . Half brother, Jack Hinkle, emailed that Bagel Fair will provide bagels for the ESPN crew at GAME DAY Saturday.  Not only are they the best bagels around, Jack's son, Jon, is the baker providing the breakfast treats! (Jack announced as a proud father)
