January 12 . . . "Bulldogs win" . . . Thanks to Mike and Lea Ann, Mike and I attended the Butler - Dayton basketball game last Saturday and had a great time. It was a hard fought victory in which leading scorer Rotnei Clarke, went down on a driving shot into the goal standard. He will miss the next two games including the Butler vs Gonzaga match-up at Hinkle, January 19. The game is the ESPN showcase game with GAME DAY to be telecast 11:00-12:00 on ESPN from Hinkle Fieldhouse. Rose Anne, Ella, Lea Ann, and Caile enjoyed a little shopping while the guys attended the game.
"It's a small world" . . . While at the game conversing with a couple of Dayton guys sitting behind us, one asked "if I knew Danny Gallagher from Butler?" Dan Gallagher was a fraternity brother (Phi Kappa Theta) and was President of the house when I pledged. The Dayton gentlemen declared Danny was a "second father" to him and showed a picture of Dan and his family prior to his passing six years ago. It is indeed a small world.
"Bagels anyone?" . . . Half brother, Jack Hinkle, emailed that Bagel Fair will provide bagels for the ESPN crew at GAME DAY Saturday.  Not only are they the best bagels around, Jack's son, Jon, is the baker providing the breakfast treats! (Jack announced as a proud father)
Mindy reported that Aiden's team won the CYO tournament hosted by Nativity over the holiday!   Great games and good time!

January 1, 2013 . . . . "Happy New Year" . . . how about a good 5K with 867 of our closest friends to kick off the new year. This year the 3.1 race started at the Westerville Community Center, south on Cleveland, west on Main, into the park area, following trails through the soccer fields and back to the community center for pork tacos and champagne (oops, someone forgot the champagne) Oh well, just shake up your water bottle! Great course with lots of effort to clear the snow. Rose Anne and I have competed in 50 races from 5Ks to Half Marathons from January 1, 2010 to January 1, 2013! We feel Blessed to be able to be able to continue our participation. As Rosie states: "Some people take vacations, we run races"
32:05 finish - 10:21 pace
Finished 377 of 867
Finished 44 of 97 in AG (50-59)

December 30 . . . Christmas with Riley, Alexis, Jim and Cara! We finally were able to clear a snow covered path to Franklin IN for our Christmas with Cara and family. Road were good. It appeared they had a little more snow in Franklin than we found between Columbus OH and Indy. Great visit . . . After watching Riley and Alexis' skills with technology, Nana & Popo decided we have been left behind!
