December (2013)

December 28 . . . "Wildlights" at  the Columbus Zoo! Rose Anne and I took Riley to the Zoo this evening to see the Christmas Lights. We had a great time;  a lot of animals were active. Remnants of Christmas packages for the animals were strewn in some of the areas and dens.

Little did we realize that the Zoo would announce they had a record crowd today of over 38,000 people attended "Wildlights"!










December 10 . . . Singing Buckeyes caroling at Tuttle Mall. Merry Christmas! — with Bob gray,Gary Wulf, James P Andres, Michael E Morris, Singing Buckeyes, Flipper Maguire, Jim Ruisinger, Mark Rhodes, Ted Hinkle, Billy Edwards, Pete Knolland Jamie Warner.

Go Irish!

November (2013) Henry and Wes visit on Friday and Saturday while Mommy is in California for Natisha Anderson's wedding. Henry got to see the Big Brown Bears (sleeping), Hank, the Elephant; snow foxes,  Bison, Timber wolves, rhino, tiger cub sleeping and lots of lions during our visit to Columbus Zoo!

Happy Thanksgiving 2013! Rose Anne and I started Thanksgiving with the traditional Flying Feather 4 miler in Dublin at Glacier Ridge Metro Park. 3,456 participants!

September (2013) . . . 

August (2013) . . . "Two Irish Runs with DCI in the middle" . . . August was a busy month for Rase Anne at Pioneer however we participated in our 4th "Dublin IRISH FEST 5k" . . . . on August 1st. . . . August 10th, travelled to Indy to meet Joe and Judy and attend the Drum Corps International Finals . . . then on August 25th, (day after my 69th) Rose Anne and I ran our 4th "EMERALD CITY QUARTER MARATHON" with good results! Sadly, August ended with the passing of our beloved Butler Bulldog Mascot, BLUE II. 

July  14 . . . "Happy "8th" Birthday to Riley Wayne" Nana and Popo joined Riley for his Birthday party at the Raceway in Franklin . . good time for Riley and his buddies.

July 13 "Run with Beethoven 5K" . . . . "Can you out run Beethoven?" Complete the 5K course before the completion of the playing of Ludwig von Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony" and be presented with tickets to a Westerville Symphony Orchestra concert. Ted met the challenge and completed the course (seemingly shortened) in 29:04 at a 9:24 pace. Perhaps hearing the symphony inspired me! Great fun . . . and  my bib was drawn for the raffle . . . . appropriately, a Beethoven "Bobblehead" which sits in a place of honor in the office!

July (2013) . . . "Singing Buckeyes" compete in the 2013 Barbershop Harmony Society International Chorus Competition in Toronto Ontario. Rose Anne, Paul Kulik and Keith Ebright and I journeyed to Toronto. Good food, singing, and a great trip. Buckeyes finished 23 out of 32 for a good showing!

 Performed at the Air Canada Center, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

June 15 . . . "Run with the Pack 5K" , a great race including and benefitting Man's Best Friend took place at the Columbus Scioto Audubon Park. This is a race we look forward to every year and enjoyed another run with our 2 and four legged friends!  

June (2013) . . . . "Happy 2nd Birthday, Henry!" Mom & Dad, Jennifer and Wes, had a BIG Birthday party for Henry on Saturday, June 8 . .  before his 2nd Birthday, June 10. Papaw helped Dad put together a neat outdoor gym-swing set . . . 72 hour, 2 case job! Big Fun for all!

May (2013) Flowers . . . . May 27 we ran the "Ring Around the Roses 5K" in Clintonville, at Whetstone Park of Roses, during Memorial Day weekend on a cool, overcast morning. It was our second year and both had good races.

May (2013) Flowers . . . Anne enjoyed a visit with us at home then we joined Colleen in celebration of her graduation from Bishop Chatard  H.S.

May (2013) "Flowers" . . . Trips to Saginaw MI and Franklin IN, relaxing Mother's Day weekend at home, We celebrated Ella's Birthday in Centerville

March 31, "Happy Easter" . . . . then April (2013) "Showers" . . . . Wes, Jennifer, Henry and Cara, Jim, Riley and Alexis joined us for the Easter weekend. We ran the Long John 5K on Saturday morning, then celebrated Jennifer's Birthday (March 28). and the Easter Bunny visited Henry, Riley and Alexis Easter Sunday after church and Mass..     

 April brought the JAD Spring Convention, in Huntington WVa, in which the "Singing Buckeyes" competed and qualified for an At-Large bid to the 2013 International Chorus Contest in Toronto. Tragedy hit the Boston Marathon when terrorists set off two bombs near the finish line. 

2013 "Bulldog Jog" photos . . . Started at Hinkle Fieldhouse at the bottom of the hill, ran past the Carillon, through campus, along the canal, past Holcomb Gardens, and ended on the field at Butler Bowl. Great morning for a race!
