Updates for the last week of January. 2011 . . . Grandson, Brandon celebrated his 10th birthday last Sunday. Rosie returns from a successful business trip to Lansing MI, which included a trip to Flint, MI to visit Wes & Jennifer. Ted was accepted into the Singing Buckeye chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society and will maintain dual membership with Kokomo. He also completed a great 7 mile run outside after a long week on the treadmill. DAWG-GONE-IT ! Unfortunately, the Butler DAWGS went down to defeat Saturday afternoon in overtime at the hands of Valpo! Happy 36th B-Day to son, Louie tomorrow!

"Winter on Alum Creek"

(pictures taken along Alum Creek State Park Sunday, 01/16/11, as I travelled to and from Mass at St. John Neumann, Sunbury) Mother Nature changes coats often throughout the winter. Sunday, my favorite cove appeared barren, compared to the multi-colored coat of fall.. Veins of cracked ice stretched across the reservoir blanket in white. Inlets took on a blue-grey hue as ice melted close to shore. Warm rays of sunlight pierced through the tall, barren trees nestled in the snow-covered woods surrounding the lake. It's Thursday, and today, she is putting on a fresh, white, coat for us all to admire!

First on the First! Bob & Rosie kicked off the New Year with 537 runners & walkers during the 4th annual 5K. Weather was totally different from last year's 20 degree, icy conditions. This year we ran in rain, wind and a balmy 54 degree morning! Both of us thought the course was a little slow, but we finished well. Everyone was rewarded with a finishers medal & a pork barbecue & black eyed peas post race meal. Rosie was 6 of 16 in her Age Group; Ted finished 240th of the 537 participants. Our New Years Resolution: to train for the Capital City Half-Marathon, Columbus, May 7! "Happy New Year!"

"Happy New Year!" Cara, Jim, and Riley arrived Thursday evening. Wes, Jennifer & Tucker traveled from Tipton Friday morning. Menu for Friday lunch: Barbecue, macaroni & dried beef, and grape salad. Ted worked Friday afternoon at Barnes & Noble while Riley "patiently" waited to open his Christmas. Nana & Riley iced Christmas cookies, played games, and helped Mom set up his train station.
