"Moving with the Spirit" was a nice 5K run sponsored by the Galena United Methodist Church to raise funds for mission work . . . weather was perfect . . sunny and 68 on Saturday, August 28. 43 runners/walkers participated in the well organized event that flowed through a nice gated, residential area in Galena. The race organizers provided a great new concept . . Bamboo fibre running socks . . . in place of the traditional event running shirt! Good race for both of us . . Rose Anne at a 12:00 pace; I finished 15 of 43 entries with a 9:15 pace . . first race as a 66 year old runner! Next up . . Emerald City quarter marathon on Labor Day weekend! We met some great new runner-friends . . Chrissy & Michelle . . among others!

Get your kicks in year "66"! Is this a new Manhattan Transfer song? Toooo many candles for one cake, but a great B-Day . . celebrated with a 66+ minutes run! Thanks to all for the thoughts, gifts, and cards!

Mindy, Chris, and Aiden joined us August 20-21-22 for a nice visit to celebrate another B-Day! It was a low key weekend with a nice, long walk to Alum Creek Dam. Mindy & Chris fell in love with the area and Aiden was the "champion" ping-pong player! Thanks for celebrating with us!

Aiden starts football! 08-16-10

Riley is five! 07-14-10

Wes visits Rose Anne . . . Bob joins friends for DCI finals. Wes enjoyed a visit last weekend during his trip to MOPAR Nationals in Reynoldsburg OH. Meanwhile I ventured back to Indy joining Joe & Judy Eisenhut, and Jack Wagley for our yearly outing to The Drum Corps International World Championship competition at Lucas Oil Stadium. I had a nice visit Saturday afternoon with son Mike, grandson Josh, and granddaughter Ella., and celebrated Josh's birthday! Great visits on all locations! School days . . . . Riley is excited about kindergarten, Ella is starting first grade, Aiden started second grade at Immaculate Heart in Indy, Alexis is a third grader, Brandon is in the fourth grade in Albuquerque, Josh is a Freshman at Zionsville, Brianna is beginning her Senior year in High School in Albuquerque, Shelby & Bryce start school this week in Tipton, and Ryan is working while taking classes at Ivy Tech. On another note, it was one year ago last Thursday that we put our house at 101 Meadowview Drive on the market! By this time last year we had made our initial visit to Columbus and seemed destined to find a home in "The Shores"! Time really has a way of flying by! BTW . . . the Blue Devils won their second consecutive DCI championship and the corned beef at Shapiros was awesome!

The IGS Energy Irish Fest 5K kicked off the 2010 Dublin Irish Festival Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. with 901 participants running through the cobblestone streets of Old Dublin amidst the sounds of Irish Bands and bagpipers. The 87 degree temp kept both Rosie's and my pace to a 1/2 minute slower than normal, but still a good race. Each participant received a pass to the Festival and a finishers medal. I looked for the complimentary Killians beer but didn't find any. However, many green clad participants could be found at the numerous downtown Dublin pubs! It's important to replace those electrolytes ASAP.

St. Mary's Festival, Delaware . . . 130 participants lined up for the inaugural St. Mary's 5K . . good race along Olentangy River Road, out and back! We met Alan, a 60 plus runner & Delaware M.S. Cross Country coach and watched Father Schalk complete the 3.1 miler in an 8 minute pace . . . with a never ending smile on his face. Rose Anne completed the circuit at an 11:42 pace; I ran a 9:19 pace . . . 74 degree temp & sunshine!
"Hitting on all cylinders"

was the catch phrase used last week during the Pioneer North American Business Conference held at Traverse Bay, MI. NASCAR great, Jeff Gordon was in attendance; each attendee received a registered model Jeff Gordon "24" car. While in attendance Rose Anne was a keynote speaker for one of the sessions and later that day received a special invitation to attend a reception to acknowledge the 2010 Achievement Award recipients. Rose Anne received the 2010 Hitch Pin Award "for helping make strong customer connection." The recipient of the distinguished award is nominated and voted on by colleagues in each of the seven business units. While completing her first year as Sales Effectiveness Manager, Rosie became aware of the Hitch Pin Award and set her sights on achieving the award "down the road" in a couple of years. What a pleasant surprise and deserving accomplishment to be honored . . . during your first year in this position! Congratulations Rose Anne . . . . we are VERY proud of you! You certainly are . . "Hitting on all cylinders!"
