Buckeye Bash 5K . . . Saturday morning prior to the Ohio State-Michigan football game, tradition dictates that the OSU crazies put on their Scarlet & Grey, lace up their shoes and run in numerous races throughout Columbus. Rosie and I joined them in Westerville for a 5K. It was a great course w/ 550 participants. Proceeds benefited the Westerville Central C.C. team. The Columbus Running Company was a sponsor and organizer of the event; Matt DeLeon & Eric Furth are co-owners of the store and teammates at DePauw University. I've enjoyed meeting Matt and look forward to frequenting the store and running more of their events. Rosie had another PR, finished 2nd in her age group on her goal to break an 11:00 minute pace. I finished 1st in my age group. Among the post race treats were . . . . "Buckeye" chocolates . . not bad, but not as good as a Long Doughnut or a Bagel Fair Bagel!

Rosie's Belated B-Day pictures . . . Due to technical difficulties we were unable to post these pictures September 30. However, as you can see, she survived her 55th Birthday! That was also the date we closed on our new home . . . a big Birthday present for Rosie! We ran our first race in Delaware Ohio that following Saturday, October 3rd!

More visitors . . . . . . ! The yellow caution tape across the picture of Cara, Rosie, & Jim isn't blocking off a crime scene. We had B-Level concrete raise the driveway which had settled an inch and a half to be level with the garage floor. The process is done by drilling holes and forcing concrete under the pad!

Be our guests! Rosie and I haven't had much time to be homesick since our arrival in Ohio, September 24th. The new job, home, and details of relocating have kept us busy. We fortunately have been blessed with great new neighbors who welcomed us from the very first day we walked into our home on October 3rd. Next door neighbor Don & Jan Olenick brought us a welcome gift within an hour of our initial arrival. Don is attending his fire pit during Halloween night! Next door neighbor on the west, Jennie Rusnak and her family, are pictured during their visit. There's even a band director in the neighborhood to keep me updated on trends in music education! Rose Anne's brother John, and Steve Gillam stopped by during their business travels on Wednesday, October 7th. Rosie's daughter Cara and Jim shared the weekend with us on October 10-11, and Wes and Jennifer joined us in our new home October 23-25. Oh yes, and we can't forget our many visitors the evening of October 31st!

Happy Trails! Alum Creek State Park was the site of a 4 mile trail run through the woods and along the banks of the Reservoir. Rosie and I joined the Saturday morning run which began a little over a mile from home. The two simultaneous Muddy Feet Trail Runs (4 mile & 6.5 mile) were run in perfect, dry conditions; clear, sunny 46 degree temperature. As a result we didn't have muddy shoes to clean after the great workout! Rosie finished 4th in her age group; I finished 3rd in mine!

Nana visits Riley at his school . . . . . Rosie took the opportunity on a beautiful Friday to spend the afternoon with Grandson, Riley. The look on his face was of sheer surprise when Rose Anne walked into his classroom, even though he was aware "his Nana was coming". After school they had lunch with Cara, went shopping, and prepared for his fall play! Rosie said he found many things in the Disney store . . . . "that I really want"! "What about this Nana?" He is excited about visiting us at Thanksgiving, but not sure about Nana and Popo moving. "Where are your big flowers?" "Did Popo take his pool with him? . . . . . No? . . . . . oh, no!"
